Let's Talk Aging

Updated: Aug 11, 2021

Hello my glow gals and guys! I wanted to give you a little insight into the aging process and how we can slow it down as well as treat it.

Our skin, which is the largest organ has the ability to renew itself regularly. Skin cell turnover is a repetitive process where the cells from the lowest layer of the epidermis gradually move up to the top layer of the epidermis. These skin cells then die and shed off, revealing more radiant, younger-looking skin underneath. A healthy skin renewal cycle is the key to an even, spotless, and radiant complexion.

As we age, it takes longer for skin to repair and replace the old cells. This process can take up to 84 days for those over the age of 50. The longer it takes for your skin to renew itself, the longer dead skin cells remain on the epidermis. These excess dead skin cells make your complexion look dull and tired.

With aging, it is also natural to experience thinner, drier skin as well as an increase in wrinkles.

There are many ways to treat and prevent aging. Our diet and lifestyle play an important role in how we age. There are also some key topical ingredients recommended for aging skin which include Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Retinol, Hyaluronic Acid, Peptides and Sunscreen. In most recent years, growth factors and the Argirilene Peptide have been praised for their anti-aging effects.

Growth factors help to repair damaged skin, increase cell proliferation, as well as increase collagen production resulting in a more firm and healthy skin. The Argirilene Peptide, mimics the effects of botox and reduces expression wrinkles improving firmness and elasticity.

Dermaglow's Ageless Serum and Ageless Repair Cream includes several of these key ingredients to help with anti-ageing. We also have a Vitamin C collection to improve the skin's Radiance and provide antioxidant and anti-ageing benefits.
